Born in Upper Austria the mezzosoprano Michaela Selinger studied in Linz, Vienna and Basel.

From 2005 until 2010 she was member of the ensemble Staatsoper Vienna, where she early won the prize 'Eberhard Waechter' for best upcoming singer. In Vienna she sang all important roles of her lyric repertoire, especially Octavian/"Der Rosenkavalier".

Afterwards she became member of Aalto Theater Essen until 2014, where she most successfully continued to widen her repertoire with Mélisande/"Pelleas et Mélisande", Brangäne/"Tristan und Isolde", Charlotte/"Werther" and Idamante/"Idomeneo", to name a few.

Michaela Selinger was guest at  Opera Zurich, Staatsoper Hamburg, Glyndebourne Festival (Magdalena/"Meistersinger"), Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg (Octavian/"Der Rosenkavalier”), Vienna Theater an der Wien (Idamante/"Idomeneo") and Lyon (Hänsel/"Hänsel und Gretel", Clairon/"Capriccio", "Lady Macbeth of Mzensk", "Benjamin"), Opera Rome (Cherubino/"Nozze di Figaro"), Moscow Bolshoi (again Octavian) and Wielki Warsaw (Brangäne). In Santiago de Chile she was Geschwitz/"Lulu" for the first time, in Barcelona Liceu Varvara/"Katia Kabanova".

2006 she gave her debut at Musikverein Vienna, followed by concerts at Konzerthaus Vienna, Brucknerhaus Linz, Haydn’s "Stabat Mater" at Salzburg Festival, as well as Bayerischer Rundfunk München.
2013 Michaela Selinger recorded Dvorak’s "Stabat Mater" under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe. Her US debut was with Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Riccardo Muti in February 2014.

2016 she gave her opera debut at Salzburg Festival ("Die Liebe der Danae" under Franz Welser-Möst).

Future plans include concerts, among others at Brucknerhaus Linz.
