German soprano Anna Schoeck, born 1985, began singing lessons as a youngster with Ruth Grünhagen in Düsseldorf before commencing her studies at the prestigious ‚Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler‘ in Berlin. During her studies there with Prof. Heidrun Franz-Vetter she was a prize-winner at the ‚Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin Junior in 2006. In 2008 Anna Schoeck was delighted to also receive the ‚Richard-Wagner-Stiftung‘ Scholarship for The Bayreuth Festival.
In concert, she has enjoyed performing in Mendelssohn’s „Elias“ at Konzerthaus Berlin, Haydn’s „Creation“ at Minsk Philharmonic, the title role in Handel’s „Deborah“ at Karkow Philharmonic and Britten’s „War Requiem“ with Schleswig-Holsteinisches Sinfonie Orchester at Deutschen Haus Flensburg.
Her opera career began with early successes at the Komische Oper Berlin and Staatsoper Berlin. Furthermore, at Deutsche Oper Berlin she was awarded a Fellowship from the ‚Franz-Joseph-Weisweiler-Foundation‘ from 2007 till 2011, undertaking many roles such as Pamina in „The Magic Flute“, Gretel in „Hänsel und Gretel“, Hirt in „Tannhäuser“ and Frasquita in „Carmen“, La Novice in „Marie Victoire“ by Ottorino Respighi to name but a few.
There she relished the opportunity to work with world renowned conductors such as Donald Runnicles, Michail Jurowski, Lothar Zagrosek, Ulf Schirmer, Yves Abel, Matthias Foremny and Peter Schneider.
Following her time at Deutsche Oper Berlin she gave debuts at Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse as Hirt in „Tannhäuser“, 1st Lady in „The Magic Flute“ at Teatro Massimo Palermo and Marian in „Das Liebesverbot“ by Richard Wagner at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi Trieste, in the same role she debuted at The Bayreuth Festival in 2013 and later at Leipzig Oper.
Anna Schoeck returns to Oper Leipzig regularly in roles such as Mimi in „La Bohème“ and Countess in „Le nozze di Figaro“ and to Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse as Nuri in Eugene d’Albert’s „Tiefland“ directed by Walter Sutcliff.
Since 2012 she was member of the Solo Ensemble at Landestheater Schleswig-Holstein, here she has enjoyed singing a large range of leading roles such as Mimi /“La Bohème“, Jenny /“Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny“, Sonja /“Raskolnikoff“ by H. Sutermeister, Helena /“A Midsummer Night’s Dream“, Lisa /“Land des „Lächelns“, Tatjana /“Eugen Onegin“, Rosalinde /“Die Fledermaus“, Tochter /“Cardillac“ by Paul Hindemith, Countess /“Le nozze di Figaro“, Sylva Varescu /“Die Czardasfürstin“, Micaela /“Carmen“, Hanna Glawari /“The Merry Widow“, Antonia /“The Tales of Hoffmann“ and Amanda /“Le Grand Macabre“.
Anna Schoeck has expanded upon her German repertoire to critical acclaim with Senta in „The Flying Dutchman“ and made also her debut as Manon in Puccini’s „Manon Lescaut“.
Anna Schoeck will continue her career since season 2021/22 as freelance.
