The Uzbek soprano Hulkar Sabirova started her singing career as a scholarship holder of the ‚Weisweiler Foundation‘ at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and became a principal of that company for three seasons. Roles at that company included e.g. ‚Königin der Nacht‘ /“Die Zauberflöte“, ‚Hüter der Schwelle’/’Falke’/’Stimme der Ungeborenen‘ /“Frau ohne Schatten“, ‚Berta‘ /“Il barbiere di Siviglia“, ‚Frasquita‘ /“Carmen“, ‚Xanthe‘ /“Die Liebe der Danae“, ‚Soprano 1‘ in Helmut Lachenmanns „Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern“, a role she also portrayed at the Ruhrtriennale (Robert Wilson) subsequently.
With her outstanding interpretations of both roles ‚Lucia‘ /“Lucia di Lammermoor“ and ‚Angel‘ in a staged version of „Verdi-Requiem“ at the Deutsche Oper Berlin she rapidly established her status as first-class soprano with corresponding guest-engagements.
With a strong relationship to her former principal company she recently had a huge success there as ‚Rosalinde‘ /“Die Fledermaus“ (Donald Runnicles; Rolando Villazon) and ‚Madame Cortese‘ /“Il viaggio a Reims“ (Giacomo Sagripanti; Jan Bosse).
She became a principal of the Staatstheater Kassel for three years, where she had several convincing debuts, like ‚Rosalinde‘ in „Die Fledermaus“, ‚Iphigénie‘ in „Iphigénie en Tauride“, ‚Vitellia‘ in „La clemenza di Tito“, ‚Norma‘ /“Norma“ and ‚Konstanze‘.
Recent highlights include e.g. her outstanding debut as ‚Leonora‘ /“Il Trovatore“ (Michael Balke; Aron Stiehl) at the St. Gallen Festival, ‚Konstanze‘ /“Die Entführung aus dem Serail“ (Christopher Moulds) at the Semperoper Dresden and at the Festival Savonlinna (Christoph Altstaedt; Katariina Lahti), ‚Lucio Cinna‘ /“Lucio Silla“ (Ivor Bolton; Claus Guth) and ‚Elettra‘ /“Idomeneo“ (Ivor Bolton; Robert Carsen) both at the Teatro Real Madrid, ‚Rosina‘ in a new production of „Il barbiere di Siviglia“ (Pier Giorgio Morandi; Eugeny Pisarev) and ‚Madame Cortese‘ in a new production of „Il viaggio a Reims“ (Tugan Sokhiev; Damiano Michieletto) at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
Further guest engagements led Hulkar Sabirova to the Aalto-Theater Essen where she had a huge success as ‚Olympia‘ in „Les contes d’Horrmann“ and as ‚Adele’ in „Fledermaus“ under the baton of Stefan Soltész, and to the Rossini-Festival in Pesaro where she sang ‚Contessa de Folleville‘ in „Il viaggio à Reims“. Of special attraction was Hulkar’s performance in Verdi’s Requiem with the RSB under the baton of Marek Janowsk and her highly acclaimed success with her debut as ‚Rosina‘ /“Il barbiere di Siviglia“ at the Arena di Verona (Giacomo Sagripanti).
Future projects include her debut as „Alcina“/ titel role (Christopher Moulds) at the State Opera Hamburg, her return to the Semperoper Dresden as ‚Konstanze‘ (Kristiina Poska), ‚Rosalinde‘ (John Fiore) as well as with her role debut as ‚Valentine‘ /“Les Huguenots“ (Stefan Soltész), her return to the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow and to the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
