After completing her studies and participating in an opera studio program, the young German soprano succeeded in establishing herself as a rising star. Her performances of “Mahler 8” at the Munich State Opera and “Jakobsleiter” at the Berlin Philharmonie – both conducted by Kirill Petrenko – as well as “Carmina Burana” with the Munich Bach Choir under Johanna Soller at the Isarphilharmonie set new standards and were particularly praised by critics. She made her debut as the ‘Queen of the Night’ in “The Magic Flute” at the Berlin State Opera and also sang this role at the Munich State Opera, the Vienna State Opera (children’s version), and the Stuttgart State Opera. She played ‘Max’ in Nikolaus Habjan’s production of “Where the Wild Things Are” at the Vienna Music Theater. Jasmin Delfs made her debut as ‘Blonde’ in Strehler’s historical production of “The Abduction from the Seraglio” at La Scala in Milan, as ‘Poppea’ in “The Coronation of Poppea” in Toulon, and sang ‘Najade’ in “Ariadne auf Naxos” at the world premiere of that opera at the Teatro la Fenice in Venice.
Born in Eutin, she began taking voice lessons at an early age and studied at the Lübeck University of Music with Prof. Manuela Uhl. From 2021 to 2023, she was a member of the International Opera Studio at the Munich State Opera, where she sang roles such as ‘Papagena’ in “The Magic Flute”, ‚Najade,‘ and ‚Vespina’ in “L’infedeltà delusa”.
In 2022, she was part of the Salzburg Festival’s Young Singers’ Program, during which she sang the roles of ‘Queen of the Night’ and ‘Flower Maiden’ in “Parsifal” under the direction of Daniel Barenboim. In 2026, she returned to the Salzburg Festival as ‘Najade’ in “Ariadne auf Naxos”.
The 2024–25 season began with her debut as ‘Iphigenia’ at the Bayreuth Baroque Festival under the direction of Cencic and Rousset, an impressive success with both audiences and the press.
Since the 2024–25 season, she has been a member of the ensemble at the Semperoper Dresden, where she has appeared in new productions of “The Love for the Three Oranges”, “The Child and the Enchanted Things”, “Saul”, and “The Snow Queen”. These were complemented by revivals of “The Magic Flute” (as the Queen), as well as her role debuts as ‘Marzelline’ in “Fidelio” and as ‘Adele’ in “Die Fledermaus”.
At the Semper Opera Ball in February 2025, Jasmin Delfs was presented with the Chorus Award for “Newcomer”.
Upcoming projects include her debut at the Zurich Opera, her return to the Munich State Opera, and a performance at the Theater an der Wien. She remains committed to the Semperoper Dresden for the long term.
