The Russian tenor Aleksey Kursanov made his debut as Tamino („The Magic Flute“) at the Novosibirsk Opera House in 2021 and won 1st prize at the International José Carreras Grand Prix. In the same year, he sang Tebaldo in „I Capuleti e i Montecchi“ at the Wexford Festival Opera. He attended masterclasses with Plácido Domingo, Enrique Mazzola, Luba Orfenova, Gregory Kunde, Ernesto Palacio, Matthias Rexroth and Raul Gimenez. He has been studying with Eytan Pessen since 2022.
Aleksey Kursanov studied at the Viktor Popov Choral Art Academy with Lidia Abramova. He took part in the ‚Opera for Peace‘ Summer Academy and completed the Bolshoi Theatre’s ‚Young Artists Opera Program‘, where he studied with Dmitry Vdovin. In 2024, Aleksey Kursanov graduated from the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera, where he studied with Tobias Truninger, Edith Wiens, Brigitte Fassbaender and John Norris.
In Munich he sang Parpignol („La bohème“), Vorsänger („Eugen Onegin“), Leutnant Bonnet („War and Peace“), Normanno („Lucia di Lammermoor“) as well as Tchaikovsky’s Romeo in the production of Tchaikovsky overtures and an opera gala of the Bavarian State Ballet under Vladimir Jurowski and Semion Skigin.
In summer 2024 he sang Belfiore/“Il viaggio a Reims“ at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.
In the future, he will remain associated with the Munich State Opera. Upcoming appearances include his debuts at State Theatre Kassel and State Theatre Meiningen.
