
During the 2022/23 season, the young soprano was a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Opera Studio for two years, where she appeared as Marie in „Die tote Stadt“, Papagena in „The Magic Flute“, Taumännchen in „Hansel and Gretel“, Angel in „The Maid of Orleans“, Iwein’s Heart in “Iwein, Knight of the Lion“, Voce dal cielo/“Don Carlo“, and Lady Macbeth’s Chambermaid/“Macbeth”, and as a vocal soloist in the ballet evening „Krabat“, Chava/“Anatevka“, Clorinda/“La Cenerentola“, and Flower Maiden ½/“Parsifal“.
In the 2024/25 season, Mara Guseynova was accepted into the ensemble, where she has the opportunity to continually expand her repertoire, including the roles of Frasquita/“Carmen“, Zerlina/“Don Giovanni“, First Nymph/“Rusalka“ and Susanna/“Le nozze di Figaro“.
Guest engagements have taken the artist to venues including the Stuttgart State Opera for a new production of “Casanova” (as Helene) and the Theater an der Wien for the world premiere of “Ich bin Vincent und ich habe keine Angst!”
Mara Guseynova has performed under the musical direction of conductors such as Axel Kober, Antonino Fogliani, and Cornelius Meister, and has appeared in productions by directors including Vasily Barkhatov, Elisabeth Stöppler, and Daniel Kramer.
The artist, a prize winner at international competitions in Estonia, Latvia, Russia, and Austria, was born in Baku. Even while still a student in Azerbaijan, she performed repeatedly with the State Chamber Orchestra and the Youth Symphony Orchestra.
After graduating, she continued her vocal training at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK) under Prof. Uta Schwabe, where she successfully completed her master’s degree in solo singing in 2022. She also participated in masterclasses with KS Linda Watson, Edith Wiens, Adrian Eröd, and Marius Vlad.
At the invitation of the Sacramento Youth Symphony, she performed in Sacramento in November 2017 under the musical direction of Mustafa Mehmandarov and returned to California in 2018 for several concerts in Sacramento and Los Angeles.
In 2019, she performed in Bratislava, sang the soprano part in J.M. Haydn’s „Requiem in C Minor“, and appeared as Maria in the production of Gluck’s „L’ivrogne corrigé“. Previously, she appeared as Rezia in Gluck’s „La rencontre imprévue“ on the stage of the MUK.
