Simon Neal is now considered one of the leading figures in his field on international stages.
In 2017, he made his acclaimed debut as Wotan at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, where he had previously appeared in roles such as Rigoletto, the Villains (The Tales of Hoffmann), Telramund (Lohengrin), and Mandryka (Arabella).
He is also a regular guest at the Frankfurt Opera, appearing as Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde), Achilles (Penthesilea), Scarpia (Tosca), Sebastiano (Tiefland), as well as in Enescu’s Oedipe, Nekrotzar (Le Grand Macabre), and Dr. Schön (Lulu).
Other engagements have taken Simon Neal to the Cologne Opera and the Opéra de Lyon as Tamare (The Marked Ones), to Lyon as Wagner’s Dutchman, to the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Telramund, and to the Leipzig and Nuremberg Operas as Dr. Schön (Lulu).
In Oslo, he began a successful collaboration with director Calixto Bieito, which continued at the Theater Basel, Opera Vlaanderen, and in Bilbao.
His career has taken him to the Semperoper Dresden, the Leipzig Opera, the Hamburg State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the English National Opera in London, Opera North in Leeds, and Opera Australia in Sydney, as well as to concert appearances with the RTE Symphony Orchestra in Dublin, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, and the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra.
From 2006 to 2011, Simon Neal was a member of the ensemble at the Theater Dortmund, where he laid the foundation for his extensive repertoire.
